ITS FVG PROJECT

Trieste and its region have an important history under the ruling of the Venetian ‘Serenissima’ Empire, which profoundly influenced the development, arts and customs for the following centuries.
An influence which can be seen this present day, 700 years later.
Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia challenged Syna Chen, one of the ITS 2020 finalists, with a reinterpretation of the dress of a 15th century Venetian woman, following the same storytelling guidelines of her own ‘Operation Europa’ collection.

History is a fundamental element in our society, so much that it still informs habits and traditions, as highlighted by the theme chosen for the 18th edition of the ITS FVG Project, ‘Here We Belong’.
A theme that takes us back 700 years, to the time of the Repubblica Serenissima, the Republic of Venice, that influences not only architecture, but also fashion, still today. The unique project carried out by young student Syna Chen, who has reached the finals thanks to a dress inspired by 15th century Venice, goes to show that the past, revisited with inventiveness and innovation, may become relevant again, not only for today, but also, and above all, for the future.
